Goldilocks, Our Senior Hen

Posted on July 19, 2014 in News

Our best guess is that Goldilocks is at least 6 years old and still faithfully laying eggs for us.  Most chickens lay for about 2 years and then call it quits.  Goldilocks likes to take her spa time every month or so.  She will find a nest away from the crowd and stay there for a couple of months, coming out wanting her breakfast each morning.  She has a lovely personality as long as we pay attention to getting her corn quickly.  Patience is not her best asset.  She may be one of the smaller hens but she knows her place as the grand dame of the roost.Goldilocks
