Enough Rain! And Take Those Mosquitoes Too

Posted on September 10, 2015 in News

We have had more rain in the past 30 days than we had in all of 2014.  While rain is good, too much is making things really difficult.  The coffee on the trees that was growing on drought weakened branches has now filled out and is weighing the branches down to the ground, sometimes snapping them off.  The weeds that I string trimmed one week ago are now nearly two feet high again.  Don’t even get me started on the mosquitoes!  They love to attack our eyes and ears and have caused many of the little chickens to die.  Mosquitoes sting the peeps in the eyes causing the eyes to become infected and closed.  The peeps become easy prey and often die from being unable to see to eat or drink.  If there is one single reason that we need mosquitoes on this earth someone should please tell me.  The good part of this rain is that the coffee has ripened really well and so far it is tasting the best of any year so far.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
